Janice and the Trust were delighted to be joined at the inaugural Gala performance on Saturday evening by the opera's composer, Betty Roe and librettist, Marian Lines. Dignitaries also in attendance included the Mayor and Mayoress of Swindon and the Mayor and Mayoress of St Ives.

I enjoyed watching it so much, I forgot I'd written it!

This was the comment made by Marian Lines, who wrote the words of the opera, in her speech after the final performance on Sunday evening. Having worked on more than 35 youth projects with composer Betty Roe, she declared, and Betty agreed, that the performance was the most professional and abundantly joyful they had seen.

The delighted audiences were equally enthusiastic, with the cast even receiving a standing ovation in response to one stunning performance.

Mr and Mrs Brunel

High praise and warm congratulations must be given to all involved in making such a magnificent piece of theatre and a very worthy tribute to Brunel's legacy.
