How lovely to have a good luck message from Gillene Herbert (now Gillene Butterfield), so busy in Opera North. Gillene, the daughter of Sue Herbert, our much loved Child-Manager, sang with JT in the pre-JTPTrust days, before studying at Trinity College of Music and joining the Opera North Chorus.
Below is Gillene’s message, and some pictures of Gillene playing the lead part of Julie in the Opera North production of ‘Carousel’ at the Barbican Theatre, London.
‘ Hope all of you at the Wyvern have a wonderful evening. Congratulations to Janice and everyone involved at the Trust for 10 fantastic years of well deserved success – what an asset to the community of Swindon it is!! Fond & fun memories of starting lessons with Janice at 9years old, receiving such support, encouragement and skilled vocal tuition from then through to my starting at music college in London. Even now having her as a trusted ear in my professional career with Opera North is such a gift. I would not be working in music without her – thank you for giving me and all those who have passed through your doors such a wonderful gift of music. “Trust your voice & Sing!!
