JTPTrust 15 year old singer Matilda Wale was privileged to take part in a Betty Roe MBE workshop and concert at King Edwards School, Bath yesterday.
Matilda Wale performed Betty’s ‘Nursery Rhyme of Innocence and Experience’ for the event, which was hosted by the Association of Englush Singers and Speakers.
This was a day exploring ‘Unsung Heroines’ and there followed an afternoon recital of 19th Century women composers in which JTPTrust Associates Shaun Holley, Rebecca Smith and Yvette Cummings peformed songs by Amy Woodeforde-Finden, Amy Beach, Frances Allitsen and more. Other members of AESS who took part included Chairman and professional soprano Sarah Leonard. Accompanists included Diana Bickley, former Head of Music at New College, Swindon, and Janice Thompson.
The event was both pleasurable and educational for everyone involved. Many thanks to AESS Secretary Patricia Williams for organising this most enjoyable event.
